Flixel x Moment Meetup in New York City

At Flixel, we are encouraged by our community and their passion for creating cinemagraphs daily. This is why we thought New York City would be the perfect place to host our first Flixel Meetup, where we could connect with some members from our incredible community face-to-face and bond with those who create a window into their city through their visual storytelling.

We partnered with our good friends from Seattle-based Moment, the creator of the finest lenses for mobile photography. With their help, we were able to bring creative minds from the mobile photography and the cinemagraph spaces together, which resulted in an evening of creating fun living photos.

The gathering kicked off with everybody getting to know each other over sandwiches and leftover Halloween candy. Thomas Brand, the winner of our #MyFlixelMoment contest shared some tips on how to capture the perfect cinemagraph.

We then headed over to the gorgeous Brooklyn Bridge Park in Dumbo with animal masks in one hand and tripods in the other to shoot some cinemagraphs with Cinemagraph Pro for iOS and Moment lenses.

“We loved bringing the Moment community together with the Flixel community. There’s always inspiring conversations that happen when creatives come together,” said Brian Cason, Community Manager at Moment. “It was a blast to stroll around the waterfront in Brooklyn, NY creating cinemagraphs with Moment Lenses while making new friends.”

Our new friends were able to use the beautiful sunset, gentle crashing waves and rustling leaves to create subtle and mesmerizing cinemagraphs on a gorgeous Tuesday evening.

Against the surreal backdrop of the Manhattan Bridge and the vibrant New York City skyline was an unfolding of a group of creative and talented individuals bonding over their love for photography and cinemagraphs. It was an amazing thing for us to witness, and we can’t wait to host more meetups to connect with creators around the world.
