For the past 8 months we’ve been hard at work on a complete overhaul of Flixel, and we’re happy to announce that the fruits of those labours are finally available on the App Store!

As you can see, there are now two app varieties to choose from. Flixel Cinemagraph is our free offering, which is ideal for viewing as well as fast & simple creation. Flixel Cinemagraph Pro is our fully featured app, aimed at artists who are serious about creating high-quality cinemagraphs using the best tools available.

Right now we’re doing what’s called a ‘soft launch’, where we quietly roll out the new applications without telling anyone. The goal is to iron out any major issues that arise before we officially start inviting people to try the new apps. 

We’ve started fresh this time around, completely rewriting everything from the ground up. As such, these are not upgrades to the old Flixel app – they are entirely new app entries. Those familiar with the old versions of Flixel should notice that the new Flixel is cleaner, faster, and produces much higher quality cinemagraphs than before. We’ve improved the viewing and creation experience, trimmed the fat, and provided the ability to create beautiful widescreen cinemagraphs. The apps are also universal, meaning they work on iPhone/iPod and iPad.
