Top 3 Flixel Cinemagraphs of 2015 Announced

You voted, and the results are in. We chose one cinemagraph from ten of our most popular cinemagraph categories. From sports, to fashion, to landscape, these cinemagraphs shone above the rest. And you chose the top 3.

Coming in at #1 is a stunning cinemagraph ad for Brathwait watches, created by one of our very own Flixel Wizards, Virgo Haan.

#1. Ads

Beautifully constructed with a seamless loop and eye catching visuals, it’s no surprise that Virgo’s cinemagraph inched above the rest in the voting.

How did Virgo create the #1 Flixel cinemagraph of 2015?

“Fortunately Brathwait watches gave me a lot of creative freedom. At the time I was very into point of view (POV) style of photography, and for a watch advertisement, it suited perfectly. To achieve the cyclist’s POV, we had to attach my Sony A7rii to a car roof. My friend Kalev was driving and I was controlling the camera with my tablet over wifi.”

“That’s how we where driving around Tallinn (capital of Estonia) to find some autumn leaves and road markings that would help me construct a seamless loop. The bicycle and the hand were shot separately in the same day so the lighting conditions would be identical for both shots.”

Coming in at #2 is a cinemagraph created by a talented duo from Moscow. Their tasty creations and beautiful style of cinemagraphs have drawn world-wide attention. Daria Khoroshavina and Olga Kolesnikova are taking food photography to the next level, and we can’t get enough of it.

#2. Food

“The Kitchen Ghosts project started for the sake of experimenting and having fun.
And it is growing into something beautiful.

I love this project with all my heart, it’s not just about food and recipes, it’s about magic in everyday life, surprising, inspiring, exceeding expectations.”

In third place, comes an edgy street cinemagraph, edited with Cinemagraph Pro for iOS. Morris Malone captured the amazing light tunnel from the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

#3. Street

Morris has a collection of beautiful nature, street and city cinemagraphs. Great photo composition, paired with a smooth loop, this cinemagraph has a way of catching and holding your attention. Though most of our top creators are using Cinemagraph Pro for Mac, Morris shows that you can create just as visually stunning, commercial-ready cinemagraphs on an iPhone or iPad.

Congratulations to all 3 winners! Each will be receiving  the New Apple TV, so they can showcase their cinemagraphs on the big screen using our free app, Flixel TV. We’re so excited to have such talented cinemagraph creators in our Flixel Community. Can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store – as many have predicted it’s going to be a big year for cinemagraphs.
