Food & Beverage Cinemagraphs

Food & Drink Cinemagraphs

Cinemagraphs are a great way to highlight and loop small movements within a scene. One thing we’ve found is that many of our Flixographers love making living photos out of their edible delights. So much in fact, that we created a seperate gallery for them. These cinemagraphs feature beverages and cuisines such as: steaming beef stew, never ending coffee, and crisp, bubbling champagne. In honour of all the Foodies out there, this post is for you!

Food Cinemagraphs in The Guardian

Last Bites is a section within The Guardian  which showcases what chefs, food writers and cooks would eat for their very last meal. Naturally, these creations are both spectacular and nom-tastic. Picture editor, Rachel Vere, decided that using cinemagraphs to display these epic meals would take these already beautiful scenes to the next level. By animating a small portion within each photo, Vere and her team- photographer Emma Lee, Lizzie Mayson, and Mateusz Karpow- have made these images come to life. Below are two examples of the still photo next to its cinemagraph counterpart.

Are You Hungry Yet?

As you can see, cinemagraphs not only add an element of motion- they tell a story. Next time, swap that still for a living photo. More captivating than a photograph and less intrusive than a video; if you’re looking for more engagement, cinemagraphs are guaranteed to do the trick.

Simply staring at a photo of cupcakes makes the average person crave something sweet. Staring at a cinemagraph of 8 cupcakes playfully spinning… now that’s drool worthy. Salivating aside, food cinemagraphs are a sure way to capture your audience and make them *hungry* for more!

When Cassandra was six, she was asked to share a story with her class…and hasn’t stopped telling them since. Now she does so through photography, video and writing, but with the same sense of wonder - and love for glitter - as her inner kid.
